This just another food blog. It’s fundamentally about my rediscovered relationship with bread… and a few of the things that go with bread to make it such a treat. There will be cheese, and preserves, and soups and who knows what else.

I am Beth. I have lived on one of the outer islands of Orkney since 2006. Island living has its own particular challenges and one of these is the difficulty of finding good fresh bread. So we make our own.

Being of the lifelong learner persuasion, and forever in need of a challenge, I am not content to confine my bread making to the necessaries. I want to explore the breads of the world and become as good an artisinal baker  as I can be.

These pages document the concept, and the highs and the lows to come.

When I am not baking or otherwise busy in the kitchen, you will find me in my fibre studio with my wheel, loom and knitting needles, or out on the beach with my camera and the dogs.
